July 18, 2023. Today at the Tribal Board Meeting Tyler LaPlaunt, Vice-Chairman and representative for Unit V has promised to sponsor a resolution to open the rolls. This measure if passed will lead to hundreds of people that have been denied their rights finally being allowed to be enrolled into our tribe.
It appears the current board has the needed ethics and votes to open the rolls. As an added bonus for those being denied their membership rights it is highly unlikely that any Board Member wishing to be reelected will vote no to opening the rolls because all those that voted no to opening the roles the last time this resolution was presented that could be replaced were replaced in the last election. Hopefully that alone will be the motivation needed for the current Board to do the right thing.
