SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Board of Directors held their regular meeting beginning 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Sault Kewadin Casino Whitefish Point Room, in person or via Zoom, https://zoom.us/j/83640619761.
On the agenda under Resolutions is: Internal Services – Newspaper FY24 Budget Modification, Enterprises – Demawating Development FY24 Budget Mod., NRD – GLRI Atikameg Experimental Rearing – FY25 Budget, Contract Approval – Meritain Health and Delta Dental, Contract Approval – Native Insurance Alliance, Contract Approval – Comp One, Rescind Requirement for Kewadin Team Members to Enroll in Life and Long Term Disability, Approving IHS Multi-year Funding Agreement, BoD Appointments Executive Technology Steering Committee, Authorization to Enter into Contract for Storage Building at JKL School, Amending Resolution No: 2024-82 Tribal Hub’s Recommendation, and Obligation of ARPA Funding for Tribally Controlled Schools to School Updates and Expansion.
Under New Business, the board approved Committee Appointments for Unit Two Elder Committee, Key Employee issues behind closed doors and Board Concerns which was primarily from Aaron Payment attempting to "school the board" angry that he was shut up in the last meeting when they voted to end the meeting while he was talking about the need for separation of powers in our tribal government.
