The DC Circuit Court rejects Sault Tribe’s Appeal to build a casino in Wayne County.

July 1, 2024. Is a new Real Estate Development Plan coming soon to Wayne County?

Today Turtle Talk along with other legal news sites report the Sault Tribe lost the appeal in the DC Circuit Court to place the Sibley Parcel in Wayne County in trust for a casino.

Options now appear to be appealing to the United States Supreme Court, selling the property to have funds to invest in improvements at the St. Ignace Kewadin Shores Casino Hotel or other Kewadin Casino sites along with the option to develop the parcel for other purposes.

Win or lose in court the 71-acre parcel of land in Wayne County appears to be an asset to the tribe.

The tribe has not provided tribal members any information about this ruling or future plans for this project.
